Replace the lower wishbone balljoint boots.

Nicked both of them doing the bearings a month or two back....the MOT is booked for Friday.

Wish me luck.

For me, just hunted down and killed the dyslexic duck that had been living in my drivers door. Thankfully a quick and simple hunt to replace the door strap. No more Clack Clack Clack when I open and close the door.

Ball Joint Boots

Well, didn't start too well. Had a bit of a sleep, working nights this week, and...... my balljoint splitter, erm split at the second whack of the hammer.

Just sent my neighbour out for a replacement.

Good job the weather's nice and England are doing well in the Ashes.

All done, satifying job

Tricky getting the top securing ring on. Bottom is easy, just put it onto the boot first then slide it on to the balljoint.

Top one was another matter, finally had a brainwave, I had an old piece of plastic waste pipe just about the right size to slide the clip over, place it over the boot then gently ease it off the pipe and onto the boot.

Time for a bath and listen to TMS, should be declaring soon.

My little job of the day was to replace the belts and pulleys, I also replaced the cams with new B&C fast road cams and a new variator. I was advised due to the mileage of the car not to bother with the water pump. I hope I made the correct decision. Anyway, now up and running, sounds better, I think the old variator was rattling a little.

Hi

Just seen this thread - can you just replace the ball joints without replacing the whole arm?
I always thought they came as one with bushes etc...

I need to replace my top ball joints on the upper arms (Alfa 156) are these in the same way?
