Don't you just love this time of the year (Not) when you get a bit of sun and the windscreen has that horrid, smeary sheen film on the inside, even though you recently cleaned the interior glass

My tip for making sure this does not happen is to use a good quality glass cleaner with MF cloth (obviously). But, start the engine first and run the Blower up with A/C on the demist mode for the screen, with a moderate warmth. Then, spray the cleaner on to the cloth and wipe the screen over - fold it over and buff through and leave the blower on for a further 20-30 secs.

(For the back window, just put on the heated rear window and do the same after)

You will have a crystal clear screen, without getting that smeary film

With offers of free beers, I'll post up more top tips

Incidently, if your glass is really nasty in terms of smears etc. get a plastic spray bottle and do 50/50 of vinegar and water solution, give it a good shake to mix and let it settle for a bit. Apply with a MF cloth and then screw up a piece of news paper to remove any residual streaks and then buff with fresh cloth.

You can then apply some glass cleaner after to finish, as per first tip.

I find that the vinegar based solution works really well on the exterior glass this time of the year, to really get all of the crap off, then use your glass cleaner to finish off. For one, its as cheap as chips and your actual glass cleaner product lasts for much longer and stays brighter for longer.

Please ship ALL BEERS to ................... ;)

Isn't retail window cleaner just a vinegar based product? I use MrM glass cleaner and when i use it i start to sneeze as vinegar makes me sneeze thus defeating the objective of cleaning glass as i multiple sneeze and i notice my sneeze material goes everywhere.

See, what did I tell you ;)

The reason for the smeary screen when cleaning this time of year is that the ambient surface of the glass is too cold for the glass cleaner to be totally effective. Also, you will have more moisture in the air which again adds to the smears.... By blowing on a warm air flow, provides an optimum glass temperature for the cleaner to work to its best potential. Hence, when you clean in the summer, you don't get this problem so much.

Should you feel compelled to bestow me with £10, it is very kind of you, but not necessary. I would prefer you made a nominal donation to either a Local Kids Hospice or your Local Air Ambulance Service

All the best,
Paul

Good stuff

Another tip for brake dust free wheels... Following a full clean, use poor boys wheel sealant - 3 coats of this stuff keeps brake grain at bay. All black marks just wash off with zero effort and no need for wheel cleaner just wash n wax. Apply once a year. See my Avatar for results, my rims look like this every day ;)
