Hi people,
As the title suggests,I have found rust:cry:just a small hole,by the towing eye in the boot,just needs a small plate . . . . .
My question is,do I need to disconnect the ecu's or is just disconnecting the battery safeguard enough?
Any advice gratefully received:)

Disconnecting battery is common practice on any car before welding.

Yeah mate,I always disconnect the battery before welding, but on my old volvo 480 the recommended practise was to unplug the ecu as well, was just wondering if that was the case with the Alfa? Don't fancy 'nuking' anything, would be just my luck . . . . . .

If the battery is disconnected fully there is no current running through the car electronics. I'd remove the ECU if I was working close to it and there was a risk of current jumping from welding tip to ECU case, but out back there's no risk I can think of. That said, for peace of mind, unplugging it may be the best option?
