Hello,

I am pretty new in here, so this is my first message.
We have a '97 Alfa 146 1.4 TS and lately we hear a loud ticking-noise l It is coming from the passenger side and as far as I can hear it is somewhere behind the glove-box. It is definitely not an engine failure, since it can also be heard when the engine is off. It is a mechanicalnoise of something rotating in the area of the ventilator/fan. It is approx twice per second.
A remarkable (or not maybe) fact is that the noise is gone when turning on the internal circulation (button next to the Airco button).

Anybody had a similar failure? It looks like a hell of a job to remove all the dashboard material.

Regards
///Martijn

The fan unit is below the glove-box and the circulation flap is in the same area, it could well be that the fan is scratching against the flap. Does it get faster when you select a higher fan speed? Does the fan speed selector work?

Hello Gertie,

thanks for you comments. The ticking noise doesn't speed up when selecting a higher fan speed and the fan speed (1-4) still does work correctly.
