As my 3.2 GT Wizrd is in hospital I was looking on YouTube to get my fix of bus so/wizard noise. I see some have fitted Ferrari throttle bodies. Has anyone here done this? What are the pros/cons?

This topic has been talked to death before, please search on the 156 and GTA lounges - benefits are much more bragging rights than actual HP. An optimized (enlarged) plenum has more benefit than TB.

And according to the figures and maths supplied by well known tuners the standard body size is about right with maybe a 70mm being optimum with a 3.8.

the ferrari 76mm and larger 84mm will lose air speed and torque according to figures. yet to see any back to back figures to prove anything either way

Thanks, I did have a search and found the chats from some time ago. People seemed to say it "felt better", all very subjective.

The placebo effect - you spent money and did something, so it must be better... :jester:

Going for slightly wilder cams (you can have your current set re-profiled) for not such ridiculous money... that has proved to help... even without remapping

this is where i.m spending my money. Jim K has a few current profiles for either 3.0 regrinds or 3.2 regrinds that have proven results.

also modifying the inlet and trying to get supersprint copy manifolds made with a few slight mods and then some serious headwork.. hoping for good gains

Head Work? What does that involve? I'm getting wizard manifolds but don't really want to do plenum as getting the original one painted.

Who is this Jim K you speak of? I worry a little about messing with cams, heard it can be detrimental. What kind of gains are you hoping for? I'm going to get mine remapped hoping for 270-280.

What would you need to get a bhp of 300 in a 3.2 GT?

headwork is quite costly also.. you looking approx 400/800 pounds for around 15% gains across the rev range. It involves getting someone with a flowbench to revise the port shape and valve seats to an optimum shape and cut. I'm guessing the alfa tuners have a design that works.. someone like amh must have done a few. I know Jim K has a decent design but hes in greece. will be doing my own but have to build a flow bench first lol. it would be good to try a test drive a car with cams first before lashing out loads of money :smoker:

for a guaranteed 300bhp you would need individual throttle bodies or 3.8 litres. thing is peak bhp is pointless except in bragging rights. for a road car torque and increasing the area under the curve is much more important across the entire rev range rather than just a peak bhp figure..

for me full exhaust system air filter then cams for the best gains.. after that the increase in power per cost gets rather expensive.. things like brakes suspension can be more rewarding in the overall drive. in cost per bhp gained the best bet is supercharging if you can do some yourself and live without aircon

i,m going 3.8 headwork cams etc as i,m doing it all myself rather than going to the pub lol

hahaha - you will need a lottle (somewhere between a lot and little) of both...

:smoker: 300bhp out a N/A 3.2L V6 is no small feat.

300bhp is 0.4bar (6spi) turbo 3.2L V6 teritory
thats what i was saying.. 3.2 on standard manifold is always going to struggle..

seen a few 3.8 make 300 ish on standard type manifolds..

much easier with boost.. but done a load of boost cars so going N/A again after a long time away

Thanks for the advice guys. Will be happy to just get my beast back now! Am going to stick with my original plan and get a remap when I have money (EST 2019)!!

Suspension and brakes do need an overhaul so that's next on the list.
