First Post...

I am very close to taking the leap into buying a 2.0 Jtdm 140 Veloce. I have done a fair bit of research into the car but am just wanting to know if there is anything that is a “must” or anything I should watch out for.

The specification I am thinking of going for is...
White paint.
18” sports design alloys (turbines)
Heated seats
Rear parking sensors
Red brake callipers.

Is there anything else that I should be adding to that list? I currently drive a 3 door Astra sports hatch and have looked around for ages for a car with some character, the BMW’s and Audis of the world just seem all too common on the roads today.
Any feedback be it good or bad would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

Kieran:)

Spec sounds spot on. Wish I'd added Xenons though.

Not sure heated seats are a definites without full leather. But that's up to you.

If you need a satnav I'd get the TomTom, or at least the port and use your own as the 12v port is in a stupid place.

Do it. You won't regret it

Agree with ditching the heated seats had them as standard on my 159 and have used them maybe 4 times in 3 years even with last winter, haven't ordered them on my GQV. Get the xenons if you can stretch to that, again experience from the 159 and ordered on my incoming.

Thanks for your replies. I cant go for the 170 due to it being on the salary sacrifice scheme through work, and the 140 is the highest it goes up to.

I think I shall test drive at the weekend and all being well place my order.

Is build quality an issue at all?

Ive just ordered the 170 in Black with same spec other than heated seats. Went for the BOSE system instead. Guess its down to personal preference at the end of the day! I took several weeks to decide on White or Black paint. Both look superb though!
IMO build quality is similar to that of golf which I currently own- although not quite as good as you would get in an Audi. However for me the styling and fact its not a VW or Audi was enough to convince me. Go for it!!

Sounds like you are in a similar position to me, limited to a maximum of 120g Co2, hence the 140 as appose to the 170. At least you will save a few bob in Car tax... well this year anyway:rolleyes:

I'd perhaps look carefully at the 18" wheel option as I found the road noise quiet intrusive with the 18" it's not brilliant with 17's to be honest, but certainly lower than the big wheeled version.

Spend the money on the electric seats with lumber adjustment as the standard seats seem to lack support. The sunroof and black roof are nice options too especially with the White Cars.

Generaly speaking though the Giulietta is a nice choice and you won't be disapointed:)

gaz64, the scheme is with Tusker, SS4C.com is the website I think, its run through the local goverment I work for. We are indeed limited to cars under 120g CO2 but still is a decent scheme.

Going to test drive at the weekend, cant wait!

Are the parking sensors useful, as I could drop them for the tinted windows as that seems to be a popular choice with the car in white!

Thanks again!

Parking sensors are very useful, and has saved the neighbours deaf cat from being squished on 3 occasions so far, but there are also small kids in my street so don't want to get in trouble for squishing one of those either.

Dark tints do look nice on white G's too though.
You could always fit after market sensors at a later date if you went for the tints though,
But you wouldn't get the dash display.

Our shceme is through NHs fleet solutions and hasnt got a Co2 cap.. hence me going for the 170.

I got parking sensoer brembos bose tints folding mirrors leather.

what trim level are you going for?

I would say folding mirros give a miss and possibly bose but tints parking sensors brembos and a sunroof with leather chasing behind would be my choices

Well finally had my test drive today, and wow I’m in love, what a machine! I was given the car for the day and told to head out and enjoy it. To please my sensible head I drove the first 15 minutes in "N". This was a nice enough drive, nice and smooth, however when I put the car in "D" my mind was made up. What a drive, everything sharpens up and the car feels like a flying machine. I can’t wait to get my order placed, never felt so enthusiastic about a car before, happy days!:)
