Thinking about selling...

Thinking about selling Giulia Veloce... (Now for sale!)

With a change in work requirements, I find myself wondering if my lovely Giula Veloce is now going to get used sufficently to warrant its place on the fleet. So if I did make the unthinkable decision, what is the best way to sell it - would there be a private market for it or are these things best taken to a dealer?
Thoughts, opinions and ridicule all welcome...

I can only talk from my own experience but trying to sell a car privately of any serious value is going to be very difficult. Most used car buyers look to finance the car with some kind of balloon payment and its normally the dealers or brokers who offer this service. If you do find a cash buyer there are likely to drive a hard bargain, a bit like the dealers will do.

You'll be surprised how little a car can go for without the reassurance , finance and trade-in facilities provided by the dealer. If it was a BMW or Audi and you advertised it in the Autotrader at a low price it may be bought by a dealer from their " that makes it look like they're worth nothing secondhand " fund. This happened to a friend selling quite a new 3series for what seemed a reasonable price! I'm not sure Alfa are doing this and they probably have enough used stock already.

Try tootle.co.uk, easy to do and very quick - make the price sensible and it’ll go in a few day.

Worked great for me with a 2.5 year old Land Rover disco sport

Private car market is dead unless you're keen to sell cheap..

In had the bitter experience of trying to sell my much loved C63 last year (and year before) and it was soul destroying. Trust me when I say the only people buying cars over £15k privately are the ones you wouldn't trust with a shopping trolley in ASDA. Everyone is "bruv", you'll get calls from the family haggling you down and if anyone actually does turn up to look then you are quickly measured for a jacking or your car being damaged when you're not looking so they can tell you it's not being sold as advertised.

Sell to a good dealer and accept the loss before it gets worse.

Best bet would be to use a specialist dealer who will take your car in and sell it for you, they will then take a fee, maybe 1500 or so.
Everyone’s a winner, dealer has no money tied up in the car, you get more than webiyanycar, no muppets phoning you up.
Buyer has confidence and use of finance etc of buying from a dealer. A friend of mine did it with an R8. Just make sure you choose your dealer wisely.

To update this earlier thread, I have finally decided that I need something else in the fleet, so the Alfa will be sold next week (reluctantly, of course).
If anyone is looking for a used Veloce, it is available to offers over £21000. (27000 miles, recent new tyres, Montecarlo Blue with black leather).

She is coming up for her third service but had new tyres fitted at Christmas (3000 miles ago) and new rear brake discs+pads the same week. A couple of scuffs on the rear wheels and some minor stone chips as expected. Interior is immaculate.
Tax is the standard £145 pa.

Yorkshire, a lovely place to visit if you don't already live here! You are welcome to come and view (it's an absolute bargain for a private buyer) but I am also going to try it on Tootle (I didn't really know what it was until I looked the other day, thanks to the mentions on this thread).

Contrary to the general trail of thought on this thread I'll be looking to purchase a Veloce privately rather than lining a dealers pockets with £2-3k. Unfortunatley I've another 5 months to go with my current lease car so I'm not in the position to consider your car Nermal, which looks lovely BTW.

I'm might be selling my Veloce too.
I want to upgrade to a Quadrifoglio.
But the Q will be a secondhand I'm searching for on the internet, so my dealer won't take my Veloce.

If someone in Belgium is interested, it's a Veloce 2.0 Turbo :
- Titanio Imola
- 19" black teledails
- new 03/2018
- only 11.500 km
- very beautiful leather dashboard
- CF-spoiler on the back (from SD)
- new 54.000 €, but got it with discounts for 46.000 €
- I would like to sell it for 38.000 € incl. TVA

Don't think you would, the steering wheel's on the wrong side. :jester:

With the number of Misano Blue Veloces about now, including mine, there'll soon be a few for sale.

To put this thread to bed, I can say that I have sold the car privately. I did have a couple of bids on Tootle but they weren't quite enough and I got what I wanted. As it happens, a friend asked me some questions about a future purchase of a Giulia and then jumped at the chance to buy mine - they have got a great deal!
