This thread is inspired by a similar one in the Jaguar X-Type forum that I used to contribute to a lot.

Essentially - what features have you discovered about your GT that aren't documented in the handbook (or at least you never expected to find in there...). Some examples for the Jag X-type was that the headlamp washers only operate every 6th time the windscreen washers are sprayed (and not at all if the low windscreen washer water light is on), and that if the fog lights are on they will extinguish if you turn on the main beam lights.

First off on the GT - there's an alarm beep that sounds if you attempt to pull away with the handbrake on!

No!

Pulling the handbrake on in a traffic jam while the car was almost at a standstill. Car beeped and I thought something had gone wrong. Then I put two and two together and tried pulling away with the handbrake on just enough to light the warning lamp but not enough that the brake was doing anything and it happened again until I released the handle.

As I said - this thread is about things that took you (pleasantly) by surprise about some design feature of the car......

I don't really know too much about GT's but I know that if you try to shift from 5th to reverse mistaking it for 4th at 80mph in a Mitsubishi Lancer you need clean underwear and valium for the person in the passenger seat. :cheese:

I don't thing the GT's got too many hidden secrets, only thing that springs to mind is when locked, hold the unlock button on the remote and the windows will drop. That may be in that handbook, but, let's face it, who reads that? Only thing I've ever used it for was trying to figure out how the AC works....and I still don't fully understand it.

If you flash the headlights soon after turning off the ignition the headlights will stay on for 30 seconds, plus 30 second increments for more flashes to a maximun of (I think) 3 minutes. It's the follow you/me home feature which is also in the handbook......probably.

All the best

That's the sort of thing this thread is for (along with the climate/ECU display thingy - shame that was for a Golf). I bet most of us didn't know that and have learned something.

The Jag had a button on the keyfob for doing the same thing (as, famously, does the new VW Passat...)

At night with your lights on, if you hold down the '-' menu button on the dash to the right of the steering wheel, the dash computer will illuminate only the speedo and / or rev counter (can't recall which!). Completely pointless but looks good...

I used the heated seats in my 147 (it has GT front seats so I'm allowed to post this here...) and was pleasantly surprised to feel a nice warmth coming from the lumbar support as well as the base of the seat
