Are these camlock tools specific to alfa romeo cars that only dealers & specialists etc will have? or will any car mechanic/garage have them? :confused:

Doh pressed wrong thing. Think they are specific to alfa twin spark engines. You might find you need differnt ones for 8 and 16v engines as well.

oic, i was wondering cause my mechanic said he could do my cambelt for me, but hes not an alfa specialist, just a good mechanic/friend! but he didnt say nothin about cam lock tools?

There is one type of cam lock for the 1.8 and 2.0 and another for the 1.6.
non franchise dealers can do the job if they have the multi fit type locks providing they lock the cams with cylinder 1 at tdc. The multi fit ones have to be fitted before you commence the strip down if the belt is removed without fitting the locks the multi fit ones are no good.
Incidently i have a set for the 1.8 and 2.0 which I hire out to any one on here. See the sticky above.
