Just topped up the air conditioning in the 166. Ice cold and no leaks. Unfortunately it seems like I won't actually need it again this summer though. It's nice to get a car which only seems to be giving me good news all the time.

Cheers... I was ages waiting for this exact spec to come up in the UK before I imported it 4 years ago. I definitely wanted the roof rails and tan leather interior. Paint-wise, I'd have had either red, black or Stromboli grey.

My previous 159 ti saloon was black, with the same tan leather interior.

Dropped my 156 into Nash's to sort out a couple of things for the nct. It can't be very often that this trio are lined up together in this country. Particularly when they are all the correct colour.

No increase in Motor Tax in the budget, which is a bit of a suprise.
Petrol & diesel price to increase by approximately 2c per litre or approximately €1.20 a tank from midnight.
NOx surcharge on new & imported cars first registered here from 1st January 2020.

Considering my daily driving options are all older vehicles I'm delighted about the road tax bit!

Just noticed that the Giulia Veloce has now been added to the VRT calculator. I've been checking it periodically for the past few months, so it's only been added recently. I think the fact that it's now included on the database means somebody has actually imported one in the past month or so - was it anybody on here?

VRT is fairly steep at €8.5k based on a Jul 2017 example with 30k miles.

What do you think? I think it's probably a good thing for Alfa. I wonder how will they be positioned? Alfa and Maserati are the only two premium brands there (are DS premium?). Hopefully it won't mean Alfas and Peugeot cars being the same under the skin...

Sigh, I spoke too soon. I think it's time for me to give up hope of there ever being a new Alfa I really, really want to buy again. Surely the GTV was nearly ready considering it's only a coupe version of the Giulia.

Maybe this has nothing to do with the merger and is just proof of what I've been saying for a while. It's a dead brand without investment.
