Another stupid question: Why couldn’t you? My Giulietta allows the bonnet to be unlocked while the rest of the car is locked and alarmed.

Well the battery in the Giulia is in the boot. The boot release is electronic, so I wasn't sure if the charger may cause an issue here thats all.

When my Stelvio battery flattened this week , followed by my using the electric tailgate, the battery was recharged for 20 mins and then I drove it for another 20 mins the Start /Stop has returned. That’s 80% charge.

I have always shut the boot and locked the car without any issues at all whilst charging (CTEK). There is enough flex in the boot rubber to allow a cable to pass through.

I usually leave the boot open while locking the car. Actually I leave something light on the boot just to be laying down lightly on the cable.
