I would seriously give Mike at A&M a call.

01329 836354

Not far from you (just north of Fareham) and charged me £570 for cambelt, waterpump, idlers on my GTA.

The guy gives great service too. Can't recommend him enough.

Motormech in Birmingham - £400 + vat (cambelt, tensioners, ancillary belt)

He's an absolutely superb chap - I'd never trust anyone else with my car. Might be a bit of a drive for you though.

I don't know if he's still in business but I bet Alfabelt.net can beat all of them hands down if he is? Last time our paths crossed he was just outside Rugby. His first name is John but can't remember his surname? Top bloke who treats your car like his own!! Always goes for a test ride with you after the work as well!!

Lightbulb moment!!
John Taylor Bayne or something along those lines!!!

I'm sorry but these two quotes in particular are hilarious:lol::lol:

Give A4Alfa a ring, based in Aylesbury so a bit of a trek, but well worth it.

If you're in Telford I'd go straight to Motormech - Midlands UK based Italian car specialist. He's the only garage I'd ever use. I've had three Fiat Coupes serviced/tuned there and my wife has owned a 156 and now a Punto - all mechanical work always done there. Really easy guy to speak to and deal with. Keeps all removed parts for you to look at afterwards and never minds you "hanging around to have a look".

Now I've got the GTV it will be paying a visit for a whole list of jobs really soon...

Wherever you go make sure they do all the folllowing bits (See list below). Fiat Coupes always had a reputation for breaking cambelts and Alfa-like paranoia ensued. I spoke to an independent garage (down south) and he told me (in "confidence") that he'd naturally encourge everyone to get the cambelts changed (good money!) but that he'd never actually seen a snapped one - it was always the idlers/tensioners that broke up OR the anciliary belt (or its idlers/tensioners that broke) and meant the anciliary belt got tangled up in the cambelt with obvious results.

Cambelt
Cambelt Tensioners (I believe there are two on the V6 cambelt)
Cambelt Idler(s)
Anciliary belt
Anc belt idler(s)
Anc belt tensioners

Just be careful. This is quite a long list and reputable garages replace the lot as a matter of course, others will try and get away with just the cambelt making them a hell of a lot of money.

and I'd also ask to get the waterpump replaced while you're at it as well.....
