Took the GTV to see Autolusso for the first time on Tuesday to get things done that I don't know how/don't have time to do:

Very impressed with the service. Ned and Jason gave the car a thorough looking over and walked me round the car underneath on the lift and pointed out all the things that were wrong (turned out to be quite a few :lol and we built up a jobs list. Really pleased to be personally shown problems and have them explained as I'm so interested.

So she's had:

- New front discs (old drilled ones previous owner had on close to cracking and those holes I'm told are only for looks - back to normal discs )
- New performance brake pads which Ned's had made up
- New braided brake hoses all round
- New aux belt
- Two new powerflex bushes (old ones had been incorrectly fitted)
- 4-wheel alignment
- aircon service
- waxoyled to kill the spots of rust appearing
- a couple of small jobs here and there

The brakes are incredible. When i stand on the pedal its like having your face torn off :lol: It's like hitting a brick wall in comparison! The car feels great to drive with the alignment done too.

Spent the thick end of a grand which was more painful than I initially expected when booking in, but Ned and team did a fantastic job so it's money well spent.

He's had the pads made bespoke over in the USA as far as I remember - I'm at work at the moment but ill dig out the invoice later!

That's the one. The brake dust build up is so thick already I'll have to get the teles refurb'd again :lol:

Performance Friction 305mm Brake Pads (Z-Rated) - about £150 once you include the VAT. Expensive, but evidently you get what you pay for

I've heard they can squeal a lot in some cases - be interested to find out how you get on with that, squeaky brakes drive me mad.

Wondering how much of the braking improvement is down to the pads and how much is the hoses. How's the pedal feel now? I've always found Alfa brakes a bit underwhelming, so might be something for me to look into.

I agree that cross-drilled rotors are generally not worth it. In theory they deglaze the pads. In practice I noticed a soft purring noise when braking. But that was on a car with solid discs and if vented discs tend to crack if cross-drilled, that must be worth avoiding.

I'm quite happy with the little brakes on my TS but maybe the Ferodo DS2500 pads would be a good idea?

As instructed I've been standing on the pedal since Thursday to prevent glazing; the 'emergency stop' quite straightforward to perform on an empty carriageway from 140mph+ :lol: During the same time it wasn't always practical to stop so hard, especially with nans in nissans an inch behind in town Just before stopping as I put gradually less pressure on the pedal I would occasionally hear a loud squeal. Kept up the standing and I've been driving for two days now with no squeal, however hard or soft I press the pedal :thumbs:

Before I had the work done the pedal was progressive to a point. Under hard braking I would put more and more pressure on the pedal and eventually the increase in braking power would tail off and the fade was terrible despite standing on it.

Now the pedal feels progressive like it did before but when I mean business and really put my foot on the floor the brakes cooly light up a cigarette and ask me "is that all you got!?"

Very very impressed.

You put a :lol: smilie at the end there but it's not really a laughing matter having to get your wheels refurbed because of aggressive brake dust. A friend of mine who has these pads is totally peed off with washing his wheels every day. It appears to be a trade off for the better braking but not something I would want myself.
