To the woman who very nearly ran me over yesterday as I crossed the road outside work and she decided that she was turning right but didn't need to indicate for a mere pedestrian.

I saw the car, and saw it wasn't indicating, so stepped out ready to nip across behind it when all of a sudden it was coming straight at me.

Why is it that certain motorists don't consider it to be necessary to indicate from the benefit of people who aren't in cars? Are people who are walking or riding bikes supposed to be psychic?

Do we have some inbuilt sixth sense that tells us when some dappy woman in a Kia Pecan Nut is going to veer in our direction without warning? If so, mine is clearly broken.

Too many folk in little blinkered worlds of their own :tut:

I regularly have issues when taking / picking Euan up from school on a zebra crossing, on numerous occasions drivers have 'just not seen us' crossing

Believe me, they get a piece of my mind (need a real life swear filter TBH  ) - but I get looked at like I am the stoopid one  - it's an instant 'red mist' moment for me & I have been very close to leaving 0of0 fist sized dents in bodywork

Even the pelican crossing that we also use get's ignored, as there is a turning just after it - a 'good' driver would assume that the lights may change while the traffic is stopped (having already spotted us as a potential hazard ;) ) - but I have lost count of the times where I am tempted to climb over the bonnet of some inconsiderate twunts bonnet as they have 'parked' on the crossing :mad:

I now use a policy i've taken to having to have when driving up to roundabouts when crossing the road. Always assume any approaching vehicle is going to come towards you/into you irrespective of current direction, road position or indication.

Works a charm :)

I wouldn't be thanking her if I were you

Similar thing happened to me a couple of summers back. I saw a Merc coming down the main road; next to where I was standing there is a turn off but as he didn't indicate I just started to cross... anyway he proceeded to turn and had to slam his brakes on to avoid hitting me.

Apparently this did not please him so he blared his horn at me, in the mean time I carried on sauntering slowly across the road and stuck my fingers up at him. That turned his mood even more sour for some reason and he started to get out of the car but his missus stopped him.

Rest assured I would have kicked the crap out of him though.

Had an issue this moring on the aforementioned pelican crossing - queing traffic, lights change & a 'cossiebag' in a beemer proceeded to continue as the traffic in front of Him had moved on, nearly going over my toes

He physically shrank into His seat under my glare :elaugh:

Correct me if I am wrong (and I am sure someone will! ) but as a pedestrian crossing a road where someone else in a car is turning into that road - do you not have right of way!

If you do, I think it might be worth a call to the local law enforcement specialists?

Quick - check your highway codes!!

For me right of way doesn't come into it. As a pedestrian, I may have right of way but would feel a right *** trying to argue that I was in the right whilst wedged under someone's car.

I have no issue with her turning into the street she wants to go down and would quite happily have waited the required 2 seconds for her to do so. All I ask is some indication or warning of where she's going rather than have her going straight on one minute and right at me the next.

+1

I believe that's why those orange coloured lights where fitted to the front, side and rear of a vehicle.

*Just goes away to check highway code*
