Hi folks, had my engine terracleaned today. They came to the house and went at it for about an hour. When they started the second cleaning cycle after the soak period, a whole lot of smoke bellowed out for a good 8-10 mins. Took it out and caned it afterwards and the difference was really noticeable - smoother, quieter and pulling hard from way down. Early days yet i know but she's in for a service tomorrow so I'll update in a week or so to let you know in case any of you are curious.

Indeedy, how mucho? My 'really good' JTD is smoking like a beagle, I think a good clean would work wonders.

Including Vat it was €160 for me, its cheaper if it's below 2ltr. Called them on Saturday and they called by this afternoon on the way back from a call in the midlands. I've no affiliation but was impressed with both the product and the service.

We have Terraclean at work and I can honestly say I haven't done a single vehicle yet whereby I haven't noticed a difference between the before and after test-drives. We had a 159 JTD in a while back with a DPF issue that wouldn't even do a forced regeneration, same with a ford focus tdci, both responded to a regeneration and were fine thereafter, following a Terraclean! I'm consistently amazed by it!

Yeah, i changed my egr and cleaned the map. Still having an issue with rough idle when the engine hits temp. Tried cleaning out the inlet manifold & throttle body yesterday but had to admit defeat to a bolt that had been reading about excalibur :( might re-visit it with heavy duty kit again ...

Just back from my first extended spin post the cleanout - average fuel consumption was 8.1l/100km now 7.1l/100km. As i average 4000km per month, if it keeps like that, it'll save me €720 per year in fuel costs. Much smoother now as well and is pulling much better although i did have air, oil & fuel filters changed yesterday.

Eh.....no!
Remember there's a 164 Twinnie in UK with over 500,000 miles.
But good for you all the same.
I wonder is TS Eddie still running his 166TS last I heard it was on 270K miles?

That's a good omen for my 156 at a measly 160,000km

Is there a thread on here for the alfa with the highest mileage? If not someone should start it!

You know that the Mighty Ed China endorses that Terraclean thing? That is recommendation enough for me tbh, will have to get saving!

My 156 is at 216,000 km :wow: and feels like it has 60,000 on her. Not a rattle or anything and handles corners like a dream. At my annual mileage however, it'll be 10 years by the time I reach 300,000.

What effect would this terraclean have on a petrol v6?

Not 100% sure scortho, i do know it was initially developed for petrol engines and certainly improves efficiency. Outside that, i guess it depends on what you're unhappy with. If mine wasn't running rough and drinking too much, i probably would have kept my money in my pocket. Have a look at the website i guess?

I own a Fiat/Alfa specialist in Birmingham and having seen good reports I contacted Terrclean, they came last week to demo the system. They insisted the cars used were cars we knew well and used regularly so that we would notice the difference.
Matt that works here runs a Mondeo TDCi and this was the first demo, we went for a run after the clean which takes about an hour and Matt straight away noticed a smoother idle, less smoke under acceleration, better pick up from low revs and after 1 week a slight improvement in economy.
The only petrol car available was our 1,2lt Panda, I really doubted we would see any difference on this one but I drove it after the process and the idle was improved and pick up was better. Not seen any improvement in economy as it is not my daily driver.
With all the issues we are seeing with Diesel Manifolds/EGR'S and DPF'S clogging I ordered the equipment.
