Hi Folks,
Just bought my first Alfa, 159 2.2 JTS, she's a bute! Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

The oil temperature gauge starts to move up as the engine gets hot but then reaches a point where it drops to zero and the oil temp warning light starts flashing. After a while the gauge seems to recover and the warning light stops flashing. Then, after a while the gauge drops to zero and the warning light starts flashing again. I reckon it's a loose connection somewhere because there's no real pattern to it.

Has anyone else had this problem, or knows what it might be?

Cheers,
Chris.

Well, i've only had the car 1 week and since I bought from a dealer I would expect everything to have been checked. However, i'll check the coolant tonight just to make sure!

Thanks for the tip Sms, i'll let you know how i get on...

Checked the coolant and it's half way between min and max when the engines cold and the cap is off.

Since it's still under warranty I’ve booked it in to my local dealer to be looked at next Tuesday.

I'll post my findings next week when i find out what the problem is.

Got my car back last night, the problem was due to a dodgy oil temperature sensor.

All fixed now and running sweet!
