Hi, after i've changed the thermostate incl. a new sensor i've got temperature-issues.

I guess that there is some air left in the cooling system but my GTV 1.8 didn't take the coolant out of the recovery tank.

After i've started the engine the temperature will climb up to 90° C (what is normal) but after i while the engine will be very hot - up to 120° C.

Could anybody help me pls?

The cooling fan starts to run when the temperature is up to 120° C - then it comes down to 110°C.

tha sounds like the threshold for the fan is too high - faulty sensor. Or the temp gauge is reading wrong

Put your 'old' sensor on the new thermostat.
I think I read somewhere that there are more then one type of sensor for different makes of the 916.

Does it have a 2-speed rad fan with a resistor on the fan housing?

If it does, have you checked that resistor?

I've replaced the new sensor with the old one - now everything is working fine.

Thank you very much for your help.
