I've recently brought a MiTo 1.4 Turbo 2011 and I'm changing the cambelt. I've assumed the piston nearest the cambelt is piston 1. I checked to make sure the mark on the crankcase pulley is TDC where the locking tool is install but piston 1 shows it more towards BDC.

Is it common for the pulley marks to be really misaligned?
