Have you been watching the European Team Athletics Championships from Portugal? I am staggered to see how many Brits have tattoos. It's almost unique. None of the other countries athletes have them (apart from the septics who aren't there) They might as well wear woad. I think it reall lowers their apparent IQ more effectively that wearing their base ball caps back to front.

Nice to see that our standards in athletics match those in politics tho. This is the current captain of the womens team.

Christine Ohuruogu

She was suspended from competing in the 2006 European Athletics Championships. The reason for this was that she missed three out of competition drugs tests, one in October 2005 and two in June 2006. According to IAAF and British Olympic Association rules, she received a one-year ban for missing these tests, which expired on 5 August 2007.[9]

The British Olympic Association also imposed a lifetime ban excluding Ohuruogu from competing at future Olympic Games for Great Britain.[10] She appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but the original decision was upheld.[11] Ohuruogu submitted a further appeal, and stated that she would probably leave Britain and compete in the Olympics for another country if it was unsuccessful.[12][13] Her Olympic ban was finally overturned on 27 November 2007.

and this is the winner of the 100 metres yesterday.

Dwain Chambers

He tested positive for the banned steroid THG in a drugs check. Chambers received a two-year athletics ban, and a lifetime Olympic ban. He had all of his racing accomplishments since 2002 annulled, wiping away his 100 m European record.

makes ya proud dont it:thumbs:

PS feel free to move this to the rant room....sorry (it didn't start that way honest)

Tattos are the new 'GB' sticker; makes it easier to help identify the Brits overseas.

I'm with you on the tats DT.

"But it looks great innit ?" - No it makes you look like a chav no matter how cool you think it is or indeed how much money you have (footballers take note !) and you're all going to look even more ridiculous once old age sets in.
Generally speaking, those who have tattoos because they are currently trendy, go for very specific types of tattoo. They normally just pick the current fashionable style and go through the tatooist books and pick one that's close to it. THey don't even have to think about what they want.

Those who are passionate about Tattoos give it more thought, and get something which is individual and unique. The very idea of lifting a tat straight from the artists book is complete anathema to me.

And the old age argument is laughable to those who care about tattoos.

I don't give a fig what it looks like when I'm old, all I know is that I like it now. And you know what? Nothing else really matters ;)

Sadly, I do want a tattoo on my right arm of some of that tribal malarky you see alot, like this:

But as stated above, I only want it because I think it looks cool, and in a few yeas time when my skin turns into leathery old mans hide then maybe I would regret it? Hence why I shan't be getting any tattoo's.

VD here - Mama's nicked my laptop

On the tattoos - each to his own, but I do think an awful lot of people will regret them when they are no longer fashionable.

On the team captain front I think it is absolutely despicable that we have named two blatant cheats to represent the country's elite sportsmen/women.

Anyone who gets a tattoo because they are trendy should automatically be banned from having one :p

There's a nice quote about Tattoos that I recall reading a few years back.

'The biggest difference between Tatoo'd and non-tattoo'd people, is that those with tattoo's don't care if you have tattoos or not'
