I imagine it'll release pressure from the fuel tank caused by petrol vapour...especially when it's hot....like in Malaysia ;)

Is that the black 'surge tank' in the right wing on the 145's?
I have one, and didn't know what it did...
Does it just act as an expansion tank (as all fuel tanks are sealed)?
What does the two-pin wire running to it perform?

nope...it's a cylindrical unit about 2'" in length and 1" in diameter.

Carbon canister, used to absorb fuel vapour ain't it??? 2 wires open & close a valve connecting it to the plenum chamber.

Ok, thanks ChrisS.
It's faulty now but what if i don't change it? Will it have any serious effects on the engine?
