If that's it's right name, the box right at the bottom of the air box, now I know 888dee and Paul (and no doubt other's of you too) said take it out.

But surely alfa designed it and put it there for a reason, I mean they must spend million's developing car's it cant just be for fun, they must know something we dont.

I'd leave the box in place.

The box is designed to provide a reservoir of still air for the intake. Still air is less turbulent and therefore at higher pressure than moving air. Higher pressure outside the combustion chamber makes it more willing to go into the inlet, reducing pumping losses. You'll get a better mixture and a smoother burn.
