Hi, I'm going to replace the shocks/springs and just wanted to get some ideas before making a final decision. Tbh, I was just gonna go with OEM parts and I think the mechanic agrees, doesn't think upgrades work too well on this particular model. On the other hand, you always have that nagging feeling that it can be improved. The car is a 1999 and it looks like some bushes and suspension parts were replaced about 10 years ago so a new set of OEMs might make a huge difference anyway.

Cheers

I guess it depends on what comfort you require, original bushes and suspension was designed with more comfort, than mods that are popular, including polybushing the rear with lowering springs and koni's. Mines lowered on eibach springs by 20mm with OE shocks on the front and KYB's on the rear with polybushes on the rear plus 18" wheels. It's great on good roads and hugs the road, it's not good on roads that have loads of potholes. I couldn't change to KYB's or Koni's on the front as my 18"wheels won't fit under the plate on the strut where the springs sit, which was a nuisance. If I were re-doing it, I'd probably have 17" wheels with polybushed rear and new springs and shocks all round. That would make it a bit more sporty but not so harsh as I have at present.

The spider uses same springs as the GTV and the chassis is not stiff enough . If money no object I would get some softer springs made. There are companies that could do it from measuring an original new spring.
