If someone is luck enough to own such exotica like say a Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini etc.

Who do they go to for insurance?

Remember Clarkson trying to insure a Veyron on TV and they couldn't 'quote him happy' so i'm guessing most of the mainstream companies won't, or can't afford to take the risk?

Just an honest enquiry :)

Its something I thought of because I have just reinsured my Gtv, eventually got it for £300 but one of the quotes came out at over £7000  It made me think though, if a company wants that much brass for a £2500, 12 year old car, how much would they want for something that costs a hundred times that? Logic says it would be £700k

That's a good price. who with?

If mrs v6 could get mine insured for that I'd give it to her rather than sell it.
Through gocompare.com, a company called Be Wiser. I think they are just a broker as the documents came through from Allianz :)

It has massive presence, such a huge car. I admire it certainly, it just wouldn't be on my list thats all :)

Many people have the same opinion of the Bugatti Veyron, whereas I would love one :inlove:

OK curiosity got the better of me

Went on a comparison site and tried for an 8C Spider, not one price returned  The usual stuff about not insuring LHD cars, vehicle too valuable to quote for.

So maybe it is a specialist thing then :)

The secret is out..Sparky has a Veyron ;)

Well, Ferrai for me. I love the Enzo or 458 Italia :inlove: Dreamland, of course!

A used Masserati (especially the QP) is attainable in the future (already asked my mechanic if he could look after one)

In an idle moment a few years back, I looked for a quote for a 1981 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, insured at a value of £100,000.

I can't remember whether I limited the mileage, but it came out at about £350.

I can't remember the exact insurer either, but it was a bi name, through the meerkats!
