Hi all, my GT jtd had at great expense and heartache a new clutch AND a new Dual mass flywheel just 4 or 5 months ago and 5-6k miles ago. Done at a well known Alfa specialist.

However... since this was done, if I ride the clutch even the tiniest bit, it produces an absolutely foul burning stink. Since the new clutch and flywheel, it also judders a little bit on pulling away.

The original clutch never made any stink
The original clutch and flywheel never juddered when pulling away from standstill.

Any ideas as to why my car would feel & smell worse for having had a new clutch and new flywheel?

Mine has the juddering from standstill too, and just like yours, it only started after having done the clutch + dmf. Job was done by a specialist, but found out afterwards should be replaced the dmf bolts. No idea what difference that makes though. The parts I got from fleabay, both new Valeo stuff (clutch in Valeo box, DMF in Fiat OE box).

At least it doesn't smell :))

When I say riding the clutch, I really am referring to a VERY small riding of the clutch - as in when parallel parking uphill - the kind of instance when one can't fully let the clutch out.. even just doing that makes a terrible stink. The old clutch never did such a thing.

Take it back to them.

Is it a clutch burning smell or something else like burned gearbox oil?

Yes that all feels pretty normal.

Also to note the crank main oil seal was changed at the same time as the clutch/flywheel. I have also more recently had a replacement gearbox. The clutch smell & judder were present both with the old gearbox and the replacement much lower mileage gearbox.

I'm just wondering if a cheap poor quality clutch and/or flywheel were fitted and it is normal for them to behave/smell like this?

I wonder if theres a bit of oil leaking onto the the clutch and then its burning it off with friction when you slip the clutch...
