I want to change the buttons on the steering wheel on my 156, as they look worn, are they an easy change over and how much can I expect to pay for them? Thanks

Quite easy to change, remove the airbag releasing the three hex bolts from the back of the wheel, release buttons flexi connectors and prise them out including their silver trim from the steering wheel.

They are pretty expensive form the Alfa dealer as you need to buy not only buttons but the complete silver trim with them... I have seen the rubber buttons only on italian ebay some time ago, but cant find them anymore and they are not available from Alfa separately AFAIK..

simple job, don't worry. and you don't really need to disconnect the airbag if you really don't want to , just release the bolts and its cable will give you plenty of space to remove the buttons. Just don't let the airbag hang on its cable but support it.

You have extra buttons on yours compared with mine? Are they different from standard GTA?

The extra buttons are for voice control and telephone in Connect NAV+ system.

OK, changed them today; fairly straightforward thanks to the advice above.

I didn't get those buttons in the link above as they were sold plus I found some cheaper ones on ebay italy, they arrived quickly but were a slightly different shade to the originals. This wasn't a problem as I prefer the lighter colour as imo it matches the silver on the radio etc better.

Thanks again for the advice.

Just bought some new ones from alfa for mine which were about £90 for both sides. They come with the plastic surround too
