Starter might just be sticking on the soleinoid spindle, take it off and clean it up, copper grease it and it should be ok.

Usually this is due to a poorly charged battery, which means the starter motor teeth don't engage the flywheel correctly. See if you can "borrow" a known good battery to test before shelling out for a new one, or get you local friendly garage to test the battery for you.

It can also be caused by wear to the ring gear on the flywheel. If the car has had lots of short trips with many starts this is more likely.

However my vote is for a sticky spindle.

Disconnect the battery earth. Take the throttle body off, 4 torx bolts, then you should be able to get at the starter, two top bolts are easy third lower bolt may be easier from the bottom.
Slide it out from the top. Not the easiest starter to get at.
