Happy new year all...

Can anyone recommend a screenwash that doesnt freeze, because the washer tubes attached to the wipers are so exposed they are prone to freezing/re freezing

Any screenwash that you normally have to dilute with water in the summer.. just don't dilute it!

It is a bit difficult to find screenwash that isn't pre-diluted in these parts.

It is obvioulsy far cheaper to make and the manufacturers are also charging for the convienience factor.

I tried neat screenwash and it still froze solid.... Doesn't help at all with the washer rails on the wipers, but then it was -11C here so its asking a lot for it not to freeze overnight. I've heard that Halfords pink stuff works better.

Or use meths!

Tesco's concentrated screenwash goes to -5C, they did have some stronger pink stuff that went to -9C I think, but that is sold out round here.
Neither would cope with the extreme cold we have had recently though.

Is it the pipes that freeze or the fine holes in the spray bar?
Just that the spray bars are missing from my Gtv, the pipes are just tucked into the holes in the wiper arm and I've never had trouble with freezing screenwash. As an emergency fix it may be worth unplugging the spray bar if the jets freeze?

Blue stuff? That's what's in mine funnily enough
as it was the only place open on boxing day.

Costco do the Holts high performance stuff - meant to be good undiluted down to -36 or diluted 1:1 to -16

I'll report later whether it works neat ok

Lidl do one (windscreen anti-freeze) and that works, I know because I've been using it. It is made by VCP, Mozartstr. 13 GIESEN and according to the blurb protects to -60 deg.C. when undiluted. I'll have to do some tests. Lidl also did a nifty screen-wash tester/hydrometer that tests the effective temperature of the anti-freeze content.

No not that one, I know what you mean. This one is anti-freeze for the washers; has 5% surfactants and is citrus scented. It came in a 5 litre container for about £4 a couple of months ago. Container has the ordinary cap but also has a pouring spout. Just been to Lidl and in their preview sheet it states that from 14th Jan. they have screen-wash with anti-freeze, effective to -60 deg.C. for £3.99. Label is slightly different to the bottle I have.
