Hi all!

I just bought a 155 2.0 16V Sport last weekend and yesterday I noticed a squeeling noise from the engine somewhere. It doesn't follow rpm and sound like nothing I've heard from a car before (not like for example an alternator belt.) I'm not kidding when I say it reminds of an alarmclock, it's kind of an intense, high pitched noise. The sound isn't constant and this morning when driving to work it was sounding normal.

The timing belt is recently changed including the tensioners/wheels and stuff.

Could it be the AC-compressor belt? That belt feels kind of dry and old...

Yeah, and also, is it plenty of work involved in fixing the camvariator on a '97?

Thanks in advance
