I've got an 08 159 1.9 jdtm and recently when I change gear I can hear a squeaking noise.

The noise is more noticable at low revs when changing into second and I'm sure I can hear it when putting a load on the engine by changing up too early.

I don't know if it's a coincidence but the niose started just as the weather turned cold.

The car's only done 30k miles so hopefully the DMF and clutch are not on the way out.

Any help would be appreciated

Colin

I have the same problem.

09 Brera S, 27k miles.

Bought just almost 2 months ago.

Just recently started doing the same thing as you in the last week or so :S

Was thinking of asking the same question (but hadn't got round to it :p).

... I don't know why it is so in answer to your question I can't help :p but would like to also know what this is...

*EDIT* Oh yh forgot to say it's a 2.2 JTS (dunno if that helps :p).

I'm almost certain, that it's belt squeal as when you dump the clutch the load on the engine changes fairly significantly...mines started doing the same.

Same here, mine only does it when external temperature is below say 5 degrees, otherwise completely quiet. Its currently with dealer for this and other faults including the legendary rough idle, so will keep you posted if there is a cure/ issues etc.

Thanks Alfiefreak, look forward to hearing the result :)
Squeak would not replicate itself in dealer, :(. However rough idle has been diagnosed as cylinder head all coked up, so revised head going on by the sounds of it. They have told all belts will be replaced as part of this so hopefully squeak will also go. I have got everything crossed as they need Alfa to agree to pay yet!!

Mine has been doing the same for the past few days. Apart from the minor irritation that the squeak causes should I be worried that it is a sign of a belt etc about to break or can I live with it?

Mine also squeaks when cold and changing gear!! Never did it before the weather turned. It's more noticeable in lower gears when the car is cold. It makes the squeaking noise when you accelerate and decelerate and is not the clutch, though you may think it is as the noise appears when you take your foot off the accelerator to change gear. I haven't a clue what it is but car runs fine, idles steady and gearbox is smooth. Any ideas??

Sounds like you are describing the same issue I have. It's definately temperature related.

I 'm going to take the car to a local Alfa specialist to let them look it over and will post the results on here.

That'll be much appreciated. I'm not too worried at the moment. From what I've been reading about DMF's this doesn't sound like one of the symptoms.
Cheers Colin

Squeak has completely disappeared now weather is a little warmer. Has to be temperature related no doubt about it!!! I've also recently found my gear changes are so much lighter now (have been for about a month). The only thing I've done to the car recently is run BG244 fuel additive which has made engine much smoother. Not sure if this can have a knock on effect on gear changes. I was dreading first winter with my diesel Brera but at the moment it's better than ever. Less steering vibration, smooth engine and gear changes lighter!!! Go figure!!

first cold morning since work done to car as above.
no squeaks, so would suggest it was belts issue or something associated eg rollers, water pump etc

Brera 2.0 JTDm, 2010. I had an annoying squeaking problem, when cold and changing gear = engine moved a bit because of the torque. After some km driving, when engine compartment warmed up, squeaking disappeared. Solution: Just spray silicon to the metal holding support (fork) for a black, plastic airbox (small one, opens towards windscreen), located on side of steering fluid container, on the left side of the engine
