Caught out by a speed hump, luckily I was only travelling fairly slowly.

Looking at the damage directly beneath the engine that can be seen in the attached image, does anybody believe I have done some damage that needs sorting immediately ? I don't have easy access to any ramps to get a closer look, but it is due a service shortly. (It is only used at weekends).

I haven't had any issues since the incident, but I can sometimes smell fumes in the cabin.

The only way to really know is remove the under tray.

Also check the exhaust for leaks. With the car running get a mate to hold a rag against the tail pipe while you look under the car and ander the engine bay for leaks. You may hear a leak before you see it. Pushing the rag onto and removing it from the exhaust will highlight the sound of a leak.

Looks as if that impact is below the exhaust. You should be able to see from the engine bay if you have crunched the exhaust. I find an iPhone camera very helpful for viewing things that are at arms length.
