Hi all,
I've recently bought a Giulietta and it came with only one key. I emailed my local Alfa dealer who has quoted me £186.34 for the key and £108.00 for coding. Nearly £300 for a key seems a tad expensive to me, does anyone know of a cheaper way for me to obtain a spare key or do I have to pay up & shut up?

Bought our IQ from a Toyota main dealer and they said they only had one key for it but they ordered a new one and I collected it the next day. I sat and drank a free coffee while they programmed it. Well it wasn’t free as we paid over the odds for it but my point is I forgot to check there was a second key..

I managed with 1 key on my 156. I paid a little extra on my insurance to cover the highly probable chance of it breaking or being lost. Couldn't face alfa dealer.

Timpsons can cut you a key that'll open the door and start the car. Its about 65quid. No remote or anything but if its just for an emergency and peace of mind then i imagine thats good enough

I’ve never seen insurer ask for how many keys I have... new on me.
Add key insurance. You even get a key ring which has a reward if found telephone number on it. Not making this up honest guv.
Think mine said boomerang on it and cost maybe an extra 20 for a year.

Surely it needs a key fob with a recognised transponder to start the car?
Took my key for the 156 to my local Timpsons and they plugged it in and said they had the equipment to make me a standard key which would be programmed enough from the original to open and start the car. They said that on occasion the alarm goes but will go off as soon as the car is started.
I only have one key so im going to get this done when i get a chance. As an emergency and if it works as they say then its a goer for me

I've just done a Google search for my local Timpson's & it's in a Tesco superstore!! I'll pop down over the next few days and see what they can do for me.

Thanks for the heads up [email protected]

Get them to go out to the carpark with you and test in all the locks and ignition on the car before you leave. I say this from experience - I got them to clone a key for my 916 Spider. I took the key home to find it would start the car, open the boot but not lock or unlock the doors. I had to take the key back to get it ‘finished’. All good now though, and I’d say worth doing as an emergency back up.

Thanks for the tip, car's in for warranty work at the moment so it'll have to wait until after Easter now as we're taking the Spider up to Scotland for a few days. :rotate::rotate:

Quick Update.
Car has been in the local Alfa dealers now for over 2 weeks trying to stop an intermittent misfire. We've now lost all confidence in said Alfa dealer and asked for our money back, turns out only having one key is the least of our problems!!
