After test driving a 2.0 jtdm lusso a couple of weeks ago, and having a veloce for a 3 day demo I've just placed an order for a new Giulietta! It'll be a company lease so now idea how long the wait will be.

Gone for a white veloce 2.0 jtdm 140 with 18" turbines, brembo brake upgrade, and parking sensors. Cant wait to get it - hope it isn't too long.

I was suprised how good the Magnesio grey Veloce looks in the flesh, not sure about the metallic red personally, 8C red to die for, but not at that price! The white looks great to me, really shows the cars lines nicely.

The car has a few quirks, but has so much more character than its rivals. A3 is getting old, A4 is too big and expensive for my needs. BMW's are too common and are rear wheel drive so useless with snow+hills. New VW's are good cars but incredibly boring. Like the Scirocco, but 3 doors isn't practical enough. So the G ticks all the boxes plus its an ALFA!

Good choice!

Had a one series. although it did not rattle like my G, I had to take it back several times for warranty repairs on things like the window motors, windscreen washers...etc etc. Loads of small and irritating stuff you would not expect from a Beemer.

(Liked the Sirocco until I saw it in the flesh. It looks like the rear suspension has failed when you looked at it from the back!)

Quirks I've found...

Daft position of the 12v power socket, difficult to change seat angle when the seatbelt is engaged, lack of footrest, confusing trip computer, really loud lock/unlocking sound.... But all things I can live with. :)

I actually love that autolock clunk sound. Gives me a real moment of "Ahhhh, Giulietta" pleasure every time I set off...

You're not wrong about the 12v position though. Bonkers. Have to use an extension and run it down the passenger side. Hrmmm.

Yep, it's just in front of (almost underneath) the handbrake and right behind the gearstick. It means that any cable can get caught around the gearstick or stuck under the handbrake. Not ideal.

The one in the boot? Even less ideal for an aftermarket satnav!

Still, small grumble, all things considered. Everything else is DIVINE.

12v socket is near the gear stick isnt it with another in the boot?

Yeah I agree about the 12v socket for a satnav. Good idea about an extension for the satnav - Snarklife - any chance of a photo of how you've got it set up with the extension. I've got my own satnav so won't be speccing the built in one or the tomtom, so an extension sounds like the way forward.

Have now been given an expected delivery date for the end of October - 8 weeks aint bad! :)

Tragically, it really is just that - a long extension lead plugged into the 12v hanging down to the left and into the passenger footwell, then back up again past the left side of the radio to the windscreen. It's not secured in place or anything (obviously it needs putting away when I get out of the car), so a photo would just show how rubbish and messy a solution it is.

I've considered getting a 12v or USB socket put into the top of the dash but don't really want to scar the car, so it'll probably have to do... unless anyone has any better ideas

8 weeks sounds very good!

I'm picking my new Giulietta up on Thursday but was inpatient as I wanted one yesterday so purchased a pre ordered one that had no Tom Tom adapter and being a female all I looked at was the colour so had no idea that the socket is so aquard , can you have the Tom Tom socket fitted after or is it only an extra that you can pre order ?

Hi There!

I am also soon to be a Giulietta owner(on a company Lease)!
Ive just got the word that my G will be registered on the 12th Septemeber which means it will arrive around the 15th I hope!

That means i only had a 14week wait, which, to be honest isn't bad considering some of the waits ive been reading about.

I've gone for the 1.6JTDM Lusso in Ghiaccio White.

Cant Wait!

:D

Think the annoyance is the stupidly loud beep on lock / unlock.

Good choice on the 140 btw. Its been spot on for me. Have thought on occasion that I should have gone for the 170...but then I think of the savings.
Yup, agree about the lock /unlock beeping. Stuffed a chunk of foam in the alarm so now a bit quieter, but would much prefer not to have it at all. (Thought about expanding foam but though the lease company might get upset!)

Just need a long USB form my Iphone now!

I dont think I've actually heard the Giulietta locking 'beep'.
Is it louder than any other Alfa beep? ive been living with my 156 beep for 4 years now and i get a sort of satisfaction knowing the car is locked etc.
