hi,

i have a used 1998 GTV 3.0 V6 autodelta version. Apparently the car has an autodelta remap, with autodelta rear dual exhaust pipe. with the autodelta bodykit as well. I have few queries and i hope the experts here can advise.

1) i find the exhaust note too loud because i realised that the centre box is gone. just the catalytic straight to the rear silencer. i find that the power on the mid range is somewhat flat. initial and high rev is ok. but mid rev from 3.5-5.5 moves slow. it's good on higher speed though, but not on acceleration - could this be due to the missing centre silencer?
also, when the engine is cold, the sound i stoo mettalic (like a prettt) sound, instead of the usual throathy sound. only after temp reaches 70s then the sound becomes throaty. it is also very boomy when cruising. Im thinking of putting back the mid section silencer. would this improve the overall acceleration better?

2) my clutch is probably due for change 9i have 135,000 kms, and it feels very hard to depress and some squishy sound when biting. Im thinkiong of purchasing the GTA clutch kit with the single flywheel (from alfaholics), from the review on the website it fits perfectly and gives a marked improvement - anyone has had experience? is it worth it or should i just get the original clutch kit.

3) brakes, would just changing the steel braided hose give any marked improvements? im not going to bother with discs, pads etc, will keep this as standard.

4) sports rims i currently have the 16 inch tear drop. i find this too small and narrow. i would love 18nch if it was up to me, but i think for practical purposes 17 would be fine with a 225/45/17 tyre setup. problem is none of the wheel shops here in dubai caters for pcd 98. would putting an adaptation wheel spacer (the one fom alfisti.net) work? meaning by installing this i can now put a pcd 110 rim (which is more common) for instance?

1. that sounds like your maf needs replacing. You could possibly improve the baffle of the rear silencer rather than putting centre box back in although costs probably similar and new centre box more likley to improve things.
3. possibly. but uprated pads DS2500 seem to be the way to go

before i owned my gtv a had a toyota mr2 and replaced the entire exhaust system with a sports exhaust after fitting i notice the car acceleration was a lot better but was way to noisy i bought a baffle inserts that you put in the tail pipes and it quiet it down

on the acceleration i had the same problem i change the maf at £200 and still had the problem found out it was the lambda sensor and at £45 its the lot cheaper option

if your using it on the road i would go for some fast road pads (green stuff) but if your using on the track then i would upgrade the brakes i would go drilled or grooved can pick a good set of fronts for around £150-£200 and braided stainless steel brake hoses are way better than the rubber one as they resist expanding would really only change tho if going to use on the track

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear in my explanation. Its not the Maf or lambda symptom. What I'm trying to sday is that I feel that the exhaust output is too much compared to the input(fuel burning). Gas output has to be intuned with the engine input power. For instance, if you take any standard car, and mod the exhaust to straight flow. Most of the time you will have power loss instead of gains. If the engine is modded with remap, air intake, cams etc, perhaps the straight flow gives better effect. This is what I feel with my car. As it has straight thru from cat to back box.

Could be wrong perhaps this is just the characteristic of the car?

Anyone can comment on the GTA single flywheel clutch expewrience? Worth it?
