Which mindless fool invented this idea??

You either get up when the alarm goes off, or you wake when the alarm goes off, and then get up after a few minutes of 'coming to'.

99% of the time my body clock wakes me up before any alarm that I may set, regardless of the time. MrsM however always relies on the alarm. Now, she sets the alarm for 5am to tend to the horses.....yet she doesn't get up at 5!......she presses the bloody 'snooze' button at 5:rant:

.....10 minutes later....BEEP BEEP BEEP.....as the alarm goes off again:mad:

Just as I'm getting back to sleep, I'm woken up again! The damn thing went off 7 TIMES this morning....I very nearly got up and ripped the damn thing from it's wall socket:rant:

Snooze buttons are utterly pointless, and 100% defeat the point of having an alarm anyway.

Ah seems like your other half is like mine. She MUST :tut: snooze the clock at least 3 times before she get up  Luckily she gets up after I've gone to work but on my day off she still does it. After a lot of discussion she has now been banded from doing it when I get a lie in or her phone will get it   Amazing how inconsiderate our other halves can be :(

This is the 2nd rant about the wife, I reckon you are laying the grounds for murder by grounds of diminished responsibility.
Put enough reasons out on the web and when it happens and she's found buried under the patio with a packet of washing up powder in one hand and an alarm clock in the other, you get off scot-free, after a few years in Broadmoor, and get to sell the horses for glue! Result:thumbs:

I'm not a fan of the snooze button - and Hubby is one of those lark types who set the alarm, wake up and leap out of bed thank goodness! I, on the other hand am totally bad at getting up and I demand a cup of tea/toast once I'm awake. When its not the hols, I have to be up at 7, and it kills me as an owl!

Hubby does this!
The most annoying thing, when you are either awake or wanting a lie in is someones alarm  he doesn't even ****ing hear it. And never mind snooze, he sets different alarms at different ten to 15 minute intervals, which snooze automatically

Top rant. Not only do I not understand the principle of why you would set the alarm to wake you up 10 mins before you need to get up  but I have to put up with the time on the clock being set 10 mins fast, WTF does that achieve?

My alarm clock has the correct time and the alarm is set to 6:30 which is when I get up, simples.

 It's a woman thing !

If I want to get up at 6:50am I set the alarm at 6:50am.

If MrsH wants to get up at 6:50am she sets it at 6:30am and uses the snooze button a couple of times. When asked I get "Well, I have to come round".

Complete sympathies for the missus. If I need to wake up urgently, I set the alarm on my phone early enough so that I press snooze at least 5 times. This is because I tend to hit snooze and then go back to sleep. I've rarely been able to wake up earlier than the last possible second to make it to school on time.

I do see the point about you waking up before the alarm goes, and after 6 years at my last school, I've always awoken about 6 hours after having gone to sleep, regardless of the lighting in the room or the actual time. Since I no longer go to school this has become very annoying.

BTW, if your wife's alarm bothers you so much, just wait till she goes to sleep, then reset it to the time you'll be getting up.

the snooze concept is indeed an odd one. It's a function that sort of doesn't quite wake you up, built into a device designed specifically to wake you up.

Flip this around to imagine a sleeping pill that, ten minutes after you have dozed off, wakes you up so you can verify that you did indeed drift off, before it sends you to sleep again. I wouldn't buy them, either :)
