So after a failed seatbelt was repaired (I know bit scary) I got my car back, drove home and noticed one of the parking sensors has moved back in its housing approx 2-3 cm. I think the dealer has cleaned my car a bit too enthusiastically and pushed it inwards! It still works as I checked. I wanted to ask:

1. How easy is it to re-position the sensor (push it back forward?) I have looked under the car and there is no obvious access point. I could take it back to the dealer however I think they might charge? Not sure but I assume they will try and pin it on me and claim its my fault.

2. I noticed with the sensor in its current position back there is now a small hole in the housing which has been exposed. Could this be a problem with water ingress? Bit worried as I don't want the whole thing to short out should some water go in there, however I assume everything is very weather tight round there given the amount of spray in bad weather etc. Any thoughts?

I am quite a non technical person so I am a bit anxious about poking around, but as my garage is quite a way away I am not really keen to go back unless I really should. Any thoughts on what to do?

Is it the whole sensor or just the front of the unit that's pushed in?

If you can get at it from behind you might be able to push it back.
(Although they are welded on on the Brera/159, not clipped on.)

the whole sensor, its been pushed back by about 4-6cm or so. I'm assuming its not been welded as the bumper was replaced about 3-4 months ago. Just not sure about how to get at them from behind the bumper.

Slipped parking sensors 159

The same thing has just happened to me!!!

An over-enthusiastic jet-washer!

One of the sensors has been pushed back into the housing. It looks like you could probably try and pull it out with some long nose pliers but don't want to break it!

Anyone tried this?

Lay down on the ground and try to reach the sensor with your hand behind the bumper. I pushed one of the outer sensors out, as I was polishing my car. You could manage to push the outer sensors in from behind by sqeezing your hand between the bumper and the rear wheel housing. If it is one of the inner sensors you maybe have to take the hole bumper off or loosen it a bit.

Exactly the same happened to me twice, went to the dealer, had the black plastic part of the bumper removed and pushed it back in position. Note that it should lock into position when pushed back, otherwise it's going to fail again after driving off.
