I have a 58 reg GT 1.9 jtdm which has just failed needing a clutch and flywheel costing £1200. I am thinking that it is not worth spending anymore cash on it, searches suggest a value as a runner would be about £2000. Should I scrap it or sell it as a non runner? Does anyone know of a specialist Alfa salvage company or anyone else who may give me a sensible offer for it? I would be very grateful for advice from the forum. I live in Berkshire, the car is currently at a specialist in Surrey, thanks.

Whats the mileage and body condition like? Unless I'm missing something it sounds way too good to scrap.

Why not just put a clutch & flywheel in it and then sell it at £2k? Shame it didn't fail near me we do the clutch on these for £475 fitted and a flywheel is £270 ish. I guess thats the difference between 'ooop north' prices and Berkshire. You could have yourself a week's holiday up here with the difference. Not that you'd want to at the minute though, its bloody grim weather.

Thanks for the reply, Well I have already spent nearly the same on her this year following turbo problems and a failed oil cooler. I am afraid of more problems following. She has done 118,000 miles. The body is in fair condition, the interior is good with the tan leather seats, and there is a Q2 diff, but the alloys are in poor condition. So I think I need to sell, I would love for someone to keep her on the road, Reasonable offers are welcome, I can send photos. I do not know any Alfa scrappers, can any one help please.

No the engine is fine, but no gears. Stopped on the motorway on Friday had to be recovered.

No one? I am still looking for an Alfa breaker who could buy my 2009 GT, or someone who wants to take on the car and repair it. I will put it in the classifieds soon! Thanks people.

If you were near me I'd offer £400, but you're a 600 mile round trip away. Don't suppose you have AA/RAC relay cover do you?!

Thanks for the reply, I do not have at home cover so they will not recover the car to Cumbria. I understand how much it would cost to get it that far. At the moment I have had an offer of more than £400 from my local Alfa specialist, which I guess is economical for them with very low transport costs. Just hoping that my GT can stay on the road for someone. Thanks again for your message.
