in response to smakeys question, alfa did that one for me!!!! to replace the n/s/f shock would've added £200 to alfa price for mot
Whilst i'm debating selling this buggy, i also have an ongoing problem with the slow idle after the car is taken to about 2500rpm. I pull up to a junction, or a roundabout, and it generally stalls! The rev counter does this bouncy thing, then cuts out! noticable as soon as i dip the clutch, any suggestions? already tried a fuel and injector cleaner, no improvement. i guess sparkplugs, air, fuel and oil filters next

Wahey!!! When you've stalled and broken down you can relax and listen to some tunes whilst admiring your wheels from up on the grass verge, :D

My tuppence worth.

My local spares/breaker does batteries for £10 and takes your old one.

It's been OK for over a year, and I do lots of short runs so it's survived quite a bit of abuse so far.

The staff are OK too. Last time I was in Halfords someone asked me where the tax disc holders were. Whenever I look reasonably smart I get mistaken for shop staff even though I'm just another customer.

have you thought of buying a separate warranty for the car? one of my clleagues does that. he refuses to buy cars which are less than 5 years old. in fact he buys older ones and enjoys making them into desirable beasts. What he does do is buy warranties for older cars (i think the AA does these amongst others) and then you have peace of mind.

Just a thought...

I recall OA said get one from the AA.

fyi monza, i called all my local breakers, none of them have any alfas, let alone a 155. my car is slowly going to the dogs, unless i wanna pay alfa rip off price to keep it on the road! i woulda bought a second hand battery if i could

No worries Lionesss, just trying to help you keep that BTCC legend on the road without breaking the bank.

Those people that notice your 155 as you pass by?

I am one of those.

I know it can be traumatic parting with a car. I'd wish I'd kept my Uno Turbo a bit longer and mended it and passed it on to my brother to save him from buying an XR2 that cost him more to insure than the car cost him.

Hey Lioness, give this guy a bash, he's was a head mechy at Parks Alfa in East Kilbride. much cheaper too, only £35+VAT a hour (£41) really nice guy too, i had my 156 there yesterday and he did allot more than i asked for but didn't charge me extra...
he also said if you can source the parts yourself cheaper, he'll be happy to fit then...
