AROC have been invited to apply for a Club pitch at the Shoreham Airshow Classic Car Display which will be held at Shoreham Airport (just off the A27 between Brighton and Worthing, West Sussex) on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th August. A Club application will guarantee a pitch for either Saturday or Sunday (or both days) and will provide the Club with ample space for a display. ALL classic car entrants will be asked to make a donation of £8 to the RAFA "Wings Appeal" Charity. The £8 donation includes entry for driver, passenger and up to two children under 16 and will entitle every entry the opportunity to attend either on Saturday or Sunday, or both days. Additional adults and children will be required to pay the full entry fee of £15 and £7 each per day (£11 & £5 if booked in advance).

This year’s show offers opportunities for post 1980 classics. These vehicles must be in show condition and able to enhance a club display. All post 1980 classics will need to be specified on the application form for acceptance by the event organiser. Post 1980 vehicles arriving unannounced will be requested to use an alternative entrance via the A27 and to park in our public car parks nearby.

The airshow is an annual event and one of the best in the country for displays by veteran and vintage aircraft, especially those from the WW2 era. Last year there were magnificent displays by Spitfires, the Battle of Britain flight Hurricane and Lancaster and the famous B-17, “Sally-B”, amongst others. The car show normally attracts some 300 cars on the Sunday and it’s about time that Alfa Romeos were well represented!

Interested Alfisti are asked to contact me (Bill Smith) ASAP. The closing date for entries is listed as August 4th and with enough interest, I’ll organise a pitch.

PS The organisers are looking for additional Classic Car Marshals. Volunteers will be given a special pass offering free admission. Marshals will need to be on site to attend a briefing at 7.45 am on whichever day or days they are assisting.
