I just got quoted R15500 by Chatz to replace all four the shocks on my 159.

I developed a noisy front right suspension the day after my maintenance plan expired. :weeping:

I think it might be after I drove through a fairly deep cable trench :furious:

They diagnosed the front shocks as being in need of replacement. They did not elaborate.

So obviously I am looking at alternatives. Any suggestions?

Bilstein B6 or B8 is the way to go. Much cheaper.

I would suspect the top wishbone first.

Estimated pricing (Convert Euros to Rands):
Front B8 (lowered Ti spec) http://www.bilstein-shop.com/bilste...language=EN&osCsid=r9efo6bbfb8ogdufrnsmgo6d75
Rear B8 http://www.bilstein-shop.com/bilste...language=EN&osCsid=r9efo6bbfb8ogdufrnsmgo6d75

Thanks Ian, any suggestions of where one can find Bilstein shocks. An internet search did not turn up anything other than a company called Imcomex begin the distributor. I have mailed them.

Edit: Thanks Ian I see you updated your post.

Would a place like TWT or HiQ etc. be able to do a proper check on the suspension? I had the car a a Supaquick to redo the alignment after I hit that trench but they could not find anything obvious.

Any place that does suspension work can check for you but it may require a strip and quote though.

Imcomex are the importers for Bilstein shocks. Give them a call. For the TBi-Ti you will need the B8 shortened shocks.
