Thought I'd treat the car to a tank full of the expensive stuff, and have to admit it feels like the car has lost power on it.

To clarify the 2.4 JDTM engine in mine has been tweaked and DPF removed by NJS.

However the car feels sluggish on this fuel, which is quite surprising.

Anyone else found this or is it just me???

I use Shell V Power Diesel ALL the time, and it is excellent all round, slighty more expensive than normal Diesel, but I think its worth it. Never known it to cause my Car to be sluggish though.........

Might be worth taking it for a good blast along the Motorway, see if that clears the Engine......:)

Just a thought.......

I've got the 2.4 JTDm (210) with AHM remap (260 BHP), DPF removal and EGR delete. I've just gone through half a tank of V Power. Pulls really well and solidly throughout the rev. range. Did an oil & filter change today as well - and think that's made a significant difference to the power delivery - though I might be persuading myself of that!

TurismoTodd - AHM charged £720 incl. for the above work - worth every penny!

Thanks for the info Broggers  this place at £300 + VAT is even more of a bargain then ;)

NJS are £720 too as they sell this as a franchise from Alfatune.

There's been a LOT of discussion about the Motormech product with some good and some bad reviews. Personally after seeing the pics of the butchered DPF and the questions Alfatune were raising to this I'd stay clear. That's my own thoughts though.

I travel 100miles a day to work mainly on motorways so hopefully she shouldn't be clogged up.

Perhaps it's just me but she feels less urgent under hard acceleration maybe it's this rare sunny weather as of late and the warm air temps not giving as big a bang.

I dont use V power or any 'performance' diesels regularly - the main reason is that its usually stale! so few people buy it its the oldest fuel at any filling station, you probably bought some thats well past its sell by date! (not that it actuallly has a sell by date!)

This is often a problem with high octane unleaded too.

I commute 100miles a day as well and now only buy my diesel at the same station. Normally I use Vpower diesel as my car seems to feel a bit stronger on it. Especially at mid to higher end of the rev band. It also gives me a slightly better MPG. The odd occasion I used standard diesel the engine doesn't seem to feel as crisp - especially when I used some supermarket diesel...which I no longer use...

Yes, I totally agree with that comment, as I remember when my local Shell Garage was due for a refurb, and they stopped selling V.Power Diesel for a couple of weeks, and I put Sainsburys City Diesel in instead, the Car certainly wasn't as quick to respond, AND, I had a LOT of smoke coming out the exhaust when I accelerated very hard, which was worrying at first, but after speaking to other Alfa diesel drivers on here, they said they had the same problem. Fast forward a Month or so, V.Power back in tank, smoke was gone, and Car was flying around all over the place as usual. So V.Power Diesel certainly works in my Engine.........

Same here - I tend to use total power stuff. I do notice no black smoke so am presuming more of it burns and cleaner. Others report black smoke after removal but maybe it's the fuel not burning entirely.

Ahh backs up theory about the smoke above !!
Not just making it up to feel better

To the op I would say run it more or get a diesel cleaner from halfords or somewhere then see where you are. Shouldn't be running sluggish by changing the fuel to v power

Sounds like it. Not sure they were advertising when I had mine done. There's the usual variety of opinions on the forum about them - you pays your money, you takes your choice! :)
That place uses a standard file from Angel tuning. It won't be anything near the custom map Addie did for you.

Im sure I read on here that they have loaded the wrong file a few times.

I used it for a few months... reverted to normal 'fuelsave' diesel and have now gone back to V-power again. My findings (based on a humble 1.9 with Angel remap) are that it backs absolutely no difference whatsoever to MPG and consumption, however, the engine is definately quieter on V-power and (subjective maybe), the car pulls more smoothly with a 'creamier' delivery. I used Millers on the normal diesel and that made no difference - the engine sounded really obstrusive and leggy especially when cold. Horses for courses really but for an extra £5 a tank over around 600 miles, I don't mind the difference.

V-Power

When I first got my 1.9JTDM 159 I got very low 40s mpg but changing to V power I get mid 40s and it does run, I believe, more smoothly. On a long trip, 1000 miles over 2 days, at speeds of 60 to 100mph (autobahns!) I get 50 mpg so I'm pretty pleased with that. I had hoped that using the 'cleaner' fuel things like the EGR might last a very long time. My EGR failed on my last trip but maybe at 83k miles it had done better than most. So, I nearly always only use V-power or BP Ultimate as at least some of the difference in cost in made up in improved fuel economy alone.

I actually agree with you Chris, after remap my first full tank was V-Power and it definitely seems more sluggish. I'm not sure whether engine is just re-ajusting but seems less responsive than normal Shell diesel. I'll probably try a tank of BP Ultimate next!

Have you had any change since you posted this?

You have to give it time.... you will notice after a few tank fulls. :) It is so much more cleaning properties than regular diesel. And in the longterm it will be so beneficial to your car.

To be honest I've just stuck with the normal Shell diesel fuel since, might try a couple of sucessive tankfills of V Power to put this to bed finally.
