Hi,

I bought my 1.9 JTDM 159 about a year ago and it's due for a service (2009 model, approx 21k miles). When I bought the car the dealer said the service was about £200, which I thought was OK.

Now that it's in the garage they're saying it's £212 for the service and then another £117 if they have to change the oil & filter. Apparently the filter has 7% life in it based on the computer thingy.

So that's £329, oh and they omitted to mention that the costs are ex-VAT... so that's basically £400 as opposed to the £200 I was expecting.

Is this normal? Do I just put up with it? Do I keep it as is for the 'next 7%' and then get the oil / filter changed elsewhere? Can't say I'm over the moon that my servicing costs have just doubled.

TIA,

Andy

The oil change isn't part of the standard service so they would be a separate price. £117 is not bad from a dealer (is at an Alfa main dealer?). Or you can do it yourself for about £60.

It is naughty of them though not to mention the VAT in the original quote.
