Hi
I am getting the selespeed warning light coming on when the system goes into 5th, but not everytime, seems to be intermittent but is happening more often. The oil was low so had that topped up but its made no difference, any ideas?

I think it may be the speed sensor on the gearbox, I've had 2 go on my 2.0JTS selespeed! about £60 for the sensor, 1/2 hr to fit.

When the warnings on can you clear it by speeding up or slowing down, it a very rpm sensitive fault?

The Examiner system will read out logged selespeed faults. You might need to find a good independent garage with the system.

Yes, mine did this for ages. Only coming on at lower revs then clearing as revs increased. Turned out to be the gearbox position sensor (listed as potentiometer on my invoice) and has worked fine ever since.

Ran it for 30k miles with the fault and it never caused a problem apart from the occasional beep-beep.
