Hello everyone,

I have a Alfa 156 2.0 selespeed, it just had the oil flushed and changed last month,

today I found the 2nd gear flashing on the display sometimes, when shifting 1st to 2nd,

the red warning light flashes, and beep beep sound, and it will disappear few sec later.

the car drives well, and gear changes good, nothing trouble with shifting gears,

and sometimes when starting the engine, shift the gear from N to 1st, the red warning light

flashing with beep sound, about 4~5s later it will ok.

I don't know what is the problem? just worry about it

Thank you everyone!!:thumbs::thumbs:

Hi,

Have you checked the Selespeed oil level since it was changed?

I'd start by getting it hooked up to AlfaDiag to read the error code, check the clutch rod length is correctly adjusted (28.0 - 28.5mm) and perform an EOL recalibration.

The stored errors in the Selespeed ECU should give you an indication of what the problem is.

Sounds like it might be a pressure problem. Maybe remove the pump relay (single, black relay under the air pipe to the left of the battery), clean the contacts, and refit it. You can also try swapping it for an identical one in the main block of relays.

Cheers,

Iain

Thank you Iain. I've checked the oil level, its full enough

the red warning light seems like to flashed since I've open the cap of the selespeed oil cup,

after reading your suggestion, I opened the cap again, and put it back carefully,

than the selespeed red light flashed just 1 or 2 times yesterday (I've drive the car for 200KMs yesterday)

and only flashed 1 time today...(100KMs)

seems its not appear as usual as several days ago.

Very strange ... I dont know what the problem is ?

btw, how to check the clutch rod length?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!

Hi everyone!!

I'd like to know if possible if you solved the problem and how.

I have a 2007 147 TI and after the oil change for the selespeed, it started with a similar problem.

When it shifts from 4th to 5th gear, the 5th starts flashing. However it's not always. I can see that it's only when it shifts from 4th to 5th over let's say 2800 rpm, or when the car it's still too cold. There is no beeping and no effect on the car behavior. Also it stops flashing if I take the foot from the gas pedal. It only flashes when accelerating. I scanned it with a friend and nothing... no error. Also, I checked that clutch rod lenght is on 27mm and something.

About the clutch, in the first start in the morning, when cold, the clutch slips a bit and it's rude until the first gear change (like someone learning how to drive and shift and drops the clutch pedal too fast). After the first change from 1st to 2nd it's normal.

When the car reaches service temperature, it's cream on wheels. Nothing wrong.

Can you guide me please? :D

it may be a similar problem to what I am experiencing. What is your mileage? I have 120,000 miles on mine and the selector shaft seems to be at fault. It seems to be worn so that it 'wobbles' around and gives a false reading to the computer whilst illuminating the selespeed warning light. My car will also not engage reverse due to lack of syncromesh in that gear.
