Hello All AO!
I just got my Selespeed (year 2000) back from the dealer after it FAILED TO PROCEED 2 days before new years eve......

The pump failed.....

TOTAL bill came to A$1555-

So.... todate the total I have spent on the Selespeed has been A$324(for a faulty wiring loom to the Selespeed) + A$1555 (for the pump).

WHEN WILL THE ACTUATOR fail? Car has 76,000km and is a year 2000 model.

I am not sure if my car has the ACTUATOR version 1 or 2. I believe the 2nd version is much more reliable.......

I cleaned the car and took it for a drive after collecting the car from the dealer,..... she drove perfectly......

HOWEVER I am a little concerned that the next bill for the Selespeed will be for the Actuator......

I think this is the cost of owning an Alfa..... expensive bits need replacing......

A$1555 = £630
The pump is only about £200...

£430 is a hefty labour charge to fit a pump...!

David. you need to remember that us poor folks downunder get shafted with the price of parts from Europe/US. A US$125 part for my wife's X5 cost AU$491!!!!!!! freight must be damn expensive!
