Hans has find a very good article on Selespeed gear box and has published a part of it in an other post.
I think it's important enough to begin a new topic with since i know many are not convince by the selespeed gearbox !
And you have to keep in mind that the article is talking about 156 gearbox, the first generation.
147 gearbox is second generation....

And to be complete, you have to know that the Ferrari Enzo (Yes it is a Selespeed) has a shift time of 0.15 sec. with his formula one gearbox and clutch..........it's equivalent to the time of a BMW M3 SMG2 in mode "11", you know, the one you may not use because you'll kill the clutch in 3-5 gear changing (it's written in the user notice !)

<blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:<hr /><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Here is a nice article about shifting times:

"Shift time is measured from the beginning of the power removal to the end of the re-application of the power. With a conventional manual gearbox, this operation takes a minimum of between one and one and a half seconds with even the most expert of drivers. In normal driving mode, Selespeed takes approximately the same amount of time, for driving comfort. However, when the gearbox is used in 'Sport' mode, which is engaged simply by pressing the accelerator through more than 60 per cent of its travel and the engine speed is above 5000 rpm, gearshifts are accomplished in less than 0.4 of a second."
