Alfa Singh,
"Remove all relays and plug connection to the selespeed/gbox.spray with proper switch cleaner. It worked for me "

Seems this is a problem area?
If you shut the bonnet hard on my car the pump comes on!
Will investigate during the week ,relays or wiring , something is wrong.

AlfaSpiderBoy,
"When the level goes below a certain point the System will shut down."

*How does the system detect low fluid level.

* Does this overide the pump activation when the door is opened?

*In an emergency what can you top up with?

"Alternatively, buy a bottle from your local Fiat/Alfa dealer. "
Thnks for the kind thought.
In Australia in the bush , nearest workshop that might sell Tutela is 250klms away.
Noticed the fluid drops a little when it runs so need to top-up.

*How do you recognize the fluid , what colour?
Fluid in the car is almost clear or very light apricot.

Will get some mailed to me .

Looking deeper into how Selespeed works i wonder if a door lock /switch fault can be the culprit?
As far as i can see the motivator for the pump when you open the door is the door lock mechanism, since it seems the interior light goes through the door lock/central locking mechanism?

Am i wrong?

Smart that the key activates the pump as well.

I looked through a pile of receipts today and saw that a previous owner had fitted a s/h pump a few years ago.
Pump doesn't work sometimes, checked by hot wiring the pump.

Noticed the brushes can be bought on ebay- item number:270868726847

Presume the brushes wear and make poor contact rather than a fault in the windings?
This would then mean that replacing the brushes fixes the pump?

Sprint ,
i sat down with a cup of coffee and went through the pile of receipts to trace the repair history, interesting.
A couple of years ago the pump was replaced with a s/h one and the troubles stopped for a while , then started up again , owner gave up and sold the car on. Then the next owner went through the same deal.

I have tested it when the pump is dead and with isolating the pump from the system , hot wiring it does not make it work.
Therefore the pump is the culprit .
It does work most of the time however.

My feeling is to fit a new pump and some come with a 3 year warranty.
Considering the aggravation it causes the extra money is well spent rather than a s/h pump .

When the pump doesn't work there seems to be current before the pump.
Bang the pump and it mostly works.

I feel the previous owners were let down by their mechanics who were happy to take their money.

Out of all this i got a great car for little money.
