Can u send me a PM with details on this device? Thanks in advance.Dear forum members,
You will undoubtedly have read and seen a lot about the thefts on social media and from the Alfa Romeo Giulia/Stelvio community that is currently plagued by these ongoing thefts. These thefts occur due to a known weakness in the car's security. The distance radar in the front bumper is central to this easily exploitable vulnerability and takes seconds to enable entry into the car, then allowing a duplicate key to be cloned.
There are some mechanical solutions for this vulnerability such as a protective metal plate but this is not 100% effective in the event of an attempted theft to access the radar given enough time.
The worst thing about this vulnerability is that cars with immobilizers and, for example, steering locks are not spared either. Even if the car is not taken due to presence of an aftermarket immobiliser, the car can still be unlocked and opened by the thieves, causing damage to the interior if they decide to try and locate the hidden immobiliser.
However, there is now an "Electronic" solution that does work. For obvious reasons I cannot publicly provide further details about the solution. This product can also be used in combination with existing theft prevention devices such as immobilizers, trackers and steering locks.
In short it means that there will no longer be any opportunities for the thieves to open the car via this vulnerability.
As of today, some 60 cars (2016 to 2022 build, Giulia and Stelvio - ALL models with Radar) have this device installed all without any problems, but above all: no more successful burglary/theft attempts! They can try all they like.
The device had worked perfectly during testing on my own car (installed for 3 months now) and based on feedback from others. It does what it should do and therefore gives many owners a lot of peace of mind along with any additional security measures.
To ensure that only rightful owners of Giulia and Stelvio who wish to obtain this device are given the opportunity to obtain this, there will be strict due diligence performed. That is why we first work with a waiting list that will be maintained outside this forum. After you are placed on this waiting list it you will be provided further details. Strict verification will take place to get on the waiting list, this means that you will have to prove that you are the rightful owner of a Stelvio/Giulia.
You can perform the installation of the device yourself; detailed instructions are included. I also have liaised with 2 personally known professional automotive business (both are owners of a Giulia and have this installed on their own cars) in the South of UK to carry out installation for about 1 hour’s labour. I am also speaking to some of our long term Alfa Specialists on here for other locations to be covered.
You can register for this device and place yourself on the waiting list by contacting me via PM. I will carry out verification and then add you to a private group. Price and further details will be provided when you get in touch. The timescales for production to delivery is currently about 2 months as we need confirmed numbers before we can place a bulk order with the parts suppliers for production to begin.
NOTE: This a private DIY venture that was started by a couple of us Giulia owners to help other Alfisti here. This started off as a project to protect our own cars but we soon realised we could offer this to benefit others and have done so in the first batch of 60 cars.
Installation of this device will not interfere with any servicing or warranty work as we are not modifying anything in the car. This is a plug and play but secure solution that cannot be tampered with.
It doesn't matter if you have Security Gateway Module (SGW) or not. This solution is totally independent of all other security, either manufacturer installed or aftermarket.
d me a PM with details on this device? Thanks in advance.
Interested, pls PM me, thx!
Yes all model years. In fact we the device installed already on MY22 cars too, latest one installed on a brand new car this month. Whether Alfa fix the issue in the new facelift with the LED lights remains to be seen.I’ve been meaning to ask, as I can’t remember reading it in this thread or the one about the thefts, but is it all model years that are vulnerable through the front radar.
Mine’s a 21MY (one year old today!) and I’m interested in joining the list if it’s all Giulias that are vulnerable.
