Wel guys, its time for me to say goodbye to the Alfa..

I have had that many problems since I have had it its costing me too much money (spent over £3500 in 6 months)... Some would say im stupid spending that much, but the fact is, I really like/liked this car and was hoping for it to just be right... But its just never ending since the new engine and iv run out of money, time and patience.
It needs a couple of little bits doing but I have had enough now. From my experience so far, once everythings done, something else will happen..and I cant afford it anymore.

Iv just bought a Golf GTI 1.8T (I wanted something German as they are renound for being reliable) and i'm going to be putting the Alfa up for sale soon when iv got it fully sorted.

Iv just turned 21 and im not in a position anymore to keep shelling out money like I have been if anything else goes wrong.

Thanks for all your help and knowledge it has been much appreciated. I have learnt a hell of a lot doing all the work on this car so its been good experience for me.

All the best and good luck with your Alfa's,
Nathan

Always sad to see someone leaving the fold.
Please don't let this one experience of Alfa ownership taint all your future thoughts of buying another one.
I have had my Alfa for 3 years, and she has been a dream, and has only 'let me down', which was mainly my fault for not checking on the forum first, when the clutch slave cylinder seals went.
Best of luck with your new ownership, and don't forget you can still come back and visit whenever you like...

And not forgetting that most of the problems you had were actually to do with the GERMAN manufactured Bosch electronics and not the Italian manuactured parts ;)

Anyway, glad you did get some fun out of it and enjoy your new car :)

Sorry I have to say something here.. I daredent drive the car hard incase something breaks, its got nothing to do with the way iv driven it.
Its been stood for a week and I thought id give it a run to work and back yesterday and guess what? the engine mount had snapped off of the gearbox. Had i on the ramp at the garage today, the gearbox is going to have to come off and the hole for the bolt is going to need filling and retapping... Do you see what I mean about this car now? 1st day I take it out and this happens. So now when I accellerate the engine moves down and the drive shaft flanges scrape on the edge of the bottom arm. Im sick of this!! Iv only just put the for sale signs in it!!
One thing after another, I was contemplating keeping this and selling the golf, theres no chance now its getting stupid with the amount of money iv spent.

Nice idea, I agree with you 100%! Anyway, maybe you were not lucky as I was, maybe you bought that car when it needed to be repaired...my car is still doing fine and i am planning to drive it for couple of months and sell it before problems start...

Sorry to hear of your bad luck :(. How many miles has it done? I've had a 156 for the length of time that you've owned your 145, and it has never failed. I have spent zero on repairs, other than a few stone chips. I guess you were very unlucky.

All the best!
