Guardian eco-hand-wringing.

Guardian readers still think they need to switch off their TVs because stand-by
uses too much power. (Stemming from CRT pre-warming in the old days.)

#rolleyes

Without evening looking at any figures, because I can't be bothered,
I would guess a TV uses less electricity than a 60W lightbulb.

OMG does it use 65W ?! End of the world!!!

Looks like a twin-tuner TV has a lot of leway:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_energy_label#Television

Checked the first Samsung UHD TV on darty.fr a 50incher.

It is rates at A+ 65W

50" => 0.689 m² => 68.9 dm²

From wiki:
Pref = 24+ (4.3224 x 68.9) = 321.8 W

65/321.8= 0.2

Even if the TV consumes upto ~97W it still sits in the same class.
(So long as the index stays below 0.3)
