So Ive had this issue some time now...I havent received help at the 147 section so leme try here...

when the car is at operating temp the revs wont drop when i change just under 2000rpm...it will stay where i pressed the clutch for a while atleast 5 secs and the drop.This as you can imagine is iritating as hell!Anyone have any ideas?Ive been thinking lambda but i am normaly wrong.Pls help shap!

you could try to clean idle control valve (and throttle body)

Edzachary... Idle control actuator. Clean the butterfly valve, if that dont fix problem, then the Idling actuator needs calibration. Vroom..Vroom.

how do i do this?any tips take off the intake pipe?what should i use to clean it with tel me more about calibration pls???

Take the lot apart and squirt a can of carb cleaner all over. Give it all a good clean, it will work wonders, believe me. Calibration, no idea but maybe you wont have to if the carb cleaner does the trick. You have a series of clips so just take them off with care, not difficult at all. I would say fairly straight forward, but this is an Alfa we are talking about....

another thing to think about is clutch buddy....I know I know you replace it but what you're explaining is also tell tale signs of a faulty clutch...

I do think what AM69 and ray mention might be the actual problem.

calibration would have to be done by a specialist, don't even attempt to fiddle around that area bru...cleaning the butterfly I think would seriously help in this case...you can use injector cleaner or parrifin which will do the job more than perfectly.

you can clean the butterfly while its attached the intake manifold but that would render a half job done and you'd be limited with space or you can remove the throttle body housing completely which is not difficult at all and will probably take you 15 minutes, this way you can clean the butterfly valve on both sides and also inspect to see if there are any defects.

lemme know if you want to remove the throttle body as I have all the info.

If you can wait we somma do it when we replace your cambelt on the 27th.. If thats still happening? Just get a tin of Carb cleaner, I find that works the best.

common pproblem on older cars... there are a few issues that cause this


idle control valve
Farked clutch
lambda
Maf
cam sensor

the lambda and the maf can cause big issues with hang time..

im going to wait then till we do the cambelt thanks...any leads on cam variator?No Cerone it cant be clutch coz it did the same when it had the kuk clutch...I suspect lambda coz it started when i did the straight through exhaust...but well check on the 27th

lambda sensor cannot cause revs to stay so high, yes it will run rich but it won't give the symptoms you described.

in conjunction with MAF it can as fueling is out.. could also be timing
